Never Mind the Bollocks – Here is Hope Rehab

Never Mind the Bollocks – Here is Hope Rehab

Never mind the bollocks
Inspired by Jamie Reid

Those of us who have battled with an addiction will have plenty of experience with bollocks. The whole thing becomes a never-ending festival of bollocks – a shitshow of epic proportions. We lose things, we do stuff we later regret, and we hurt ourselves as well as those we care about.

“Bollocks to This” – Something Is Going to Change

The word ‘bollocks’ may sound a bit crude to those of us with sensitive ears, but it is simply a more emphatic way of saying ‘rubbish’.

In the UK, when a person reaches a point where they can no longer continue with what they are doing, it is common to say ‘bollocks to this’. This is far more than just a vague promise to change track, it is a battle cry that means things are definitely going to be different from here on in.

A well-known motto in recovery circles is ‘half-measures availed us nothing‘. The reason why so many of us struggle to change is not because we are insincere, but because we have not yet reached that ‘bollocks to this‘ realization. I am talking here about that moment when we finally understand that alcohol or drugs has nothing more to offer us. This is the same moment when we stop trying to quit because we have finally had enough – no more.
