Hope Drug & Alcohol Rehab Thailand
Remember: The struggle with your addiction will continue until you get the help you need, and this probably means putting your life on hold for a while, until your treatment process is underway.
“You know you are addicted when you cannot stop doing something that is hurting you. I crossed many lines against my own value-system while in active addiction, I did many bad things, I hurt people, I stole, I was selfish however as Vincent Van Gogh said ‘Conscience is a man’s compass’ so I new it was wrong. I believe we all know what is wrong and right, it’s the one we choose today that makes the difference. I always say ‘Using drugs or Alcohol is like going back to the problem for the solution’ – We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them”
Barriers to treatment ranging from childcare to denial are common for everyone who develops a drug problem. These blocks can effect making the final decision time after time, thus you will suffer more and more damage as a result. So to help you work out what to do, write a pros and cons list, consider what’s important to you and talk to someone about it. The longer you procrastinate and leave the addiction untreated the more harm it will do. This is because your condition is progressive which means it will get worse in the long term. Drug Rehab has been proven to be the most effective way to treat addiction.
Choosing a center is important and will partly be based on fees and location. It is usually wiser to find a facility some distance from your home as you may have strong cravings, so not knowing the area helps and you are less likely to leave prematurely. Hope rehab is in a long way from your familiar using environment however we are conveniently situated one hour from Bangkok airport in a small interesting town near the beach, but away from tourists. Make the commitment to stay to the end of the drug rehab course and be prepared to change many aspects of your life including, people, places and things. We will help you achieve this in our Relapse prevention classes.
Relapse prevention is about identifying your triggers and learning to manage cravings if and when they happen. You also develop a recovery plan to realistically implement the change necessary to continue what you have started in treatment or drug rehab.
Drug Rehab Center
The community: Drug Rehab Center are a residential setting, which means sharing your space and time. It is a bit like living in a big family situation, and remember we do not choose our families so the same applies to the other clients. You will learn to be tolerant and compassionate, also you will explore your reactions to real-life events when you are activated, E.g. if someone makes you angry. Addiction is a self-centered pursuit and needs to be reversed, so this is one of the many benefits of coming to drug Rehab.
The Team: Expert help is on hand from Psychologists who evaluate your mental state, to Doctors and nurses who take care of your medical needs, and the Therapists who nurture you and help you work through your emotional issues. In addition there are the all important drug Rehab workers who have their own history with addiction and recovery and can share their experience, strength and hope. This is known as visual recovery, meaning you will witness others make similar changes in their lives.
Once you have made the decision to come to our Drug Rehab Center in Thailand you need to make contact with us, you will then be assessed and prepared for admission. We need to know what, how much and for how long you have been using? This is so our medical team can prepare for you admission. Detoxification and withdrawal can have risks associated sometimes, so it must be a carefully supervised medically assisted Detox program worked out by our Doctor. Not everyone requires a Detox however it may take a few days to settle in and get to know everyone.
Method: In the past there have been many different Rehab philosophies and approaches however the most popular is known as the Disease model. This is because addiction has been confirmed as being a brain disease that is progressive, chronic and life threatening. Most drug Rehab programs are abstinence based, this includes alcohol as it is also considered a drug, a legal drug but a drug nonetheless. The idea is if you have the disease of addiction you will not be able to successfully control substance use in the long term. Addiction is a complex illness or condition that will be explained to you in more detail during your stay at our drug rehab center.
Treatment program: Nowadays most treatment providers should offer a holistic treatment program including 4 core elements; Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual. We have a practical and easy to use program that includes all the necessary elements and tools needed to help you get well and stay well, which are:
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or CBT which is a short-term therapy with long-term results and is the most popular intervention globally.
